1. Create a Home Page

You can create several type of Home Page, you can actually use any page as home page. But in this guide we will talk about the Home Page Templates.

For example on how to achieve the same home page as in the demo site:

First go to your Admin Panel > Pages > Add new,  you can put any title, in this case "Home".

On the Template dropdown select Home:

Click Publish  and now you will see the page exactly as the demo site. But this is not your home page yet, for that we have to go to Settings > Reading and select this new page as our Home Page:

Click Save Changes and that's it. Now when people enter your site, the first page they will see is this one.

If you want to use a different Home Page Template, just select a different one in the dropdown:

Note: By default the theme uses the main Portfolio, but if you want your home page to display other portfolio instead of the default one. You can change that on your page options:

2. Create a Full width Shop page

By default you have a narrow shop page:

But you can have a full width shop page like this:

Just go to your Admin Panel > Appearance > Customize > Shop Options > Shop Page Layout:

3. How To add a Social menu

You can create a social menu just by adding your social URLs as a menu item.

First go to your Admin Panel > Appearance > Menus and click "create a new menu"

You can name it "Social" then start adding Custom Links with your social URL, like this:

Add all you social profiles and it should look something like this:

Then select the Menu Location, in this case will be the Social Menu location, and you will see the menu in the footer or on all other location where the social menu should be.

Click "Save Menu" and that's it.

On your site should look something like this:

4. How to update your theme to the latest version from Theme Forest

It’s very simple to update your theme to the latest version! Please be sure to read through this entire FAQ article before updating your theme. There are important notes at the bottom!

DOWNLOADING THE NEW THEME VERSION:

Simply go to your ThemeForest account > Downloads > Re-download the theme you’d like to update.

INSTALLING THE NEW THEME VERSION:

  1. First, you’ll need to activate another theme.
WP will not allow you to delete a theme that is currently activated.
From Appearance > Themes > Activate any other theme.
  2. Once you’ve activated another theme, still within Appearance > Themes, click on the Solo Pine theme you’d like to update. In the bottom right corner is a little option to “Delete” the theme.
    Go ahead and delete it.
  3. You can now re-install the newest version of the theme you’re updating.
Appearance > Themes > Add New > Upload Theme > Select the theme’s ZIP file > Install Now.
    Remember!
It’s important to install the theme’s ZIP file, and not the entire theme package. Otherwise you will receive an error message.

Important! By default, WordPress should save your content to your database. This is why your content appears on whatever theme you have activated within your WP Dashboard. However, it’s always a good idea to create a database backup before deleting a theme, just in case.

PLEASE NOTE: If you’ve modified any of the theme files yourself, you’ll need to note these changes in order to re-implement them once you’ve installed the latest version of the theme. The update will replace your previous version’s theme files.

5. How to import demo data

Shophistic lets you import automatically any of the demo site you see here:

http://themes.quemalabs.com/shophistic/

First you have to install the plugin called One Click Demo Import, you can manually install that plugin or go to Appearance > Install Plugins and you will see how to install it automatically.

After you install that plugin, you will see a new menu on Appearance:

Click on Import Demo Data, there you can see all the available demos to import.

Just click on Import on the demo you want:

That's it, after that you will get your site with all the content from the demo site.

6. Disable the Flip effect on Portfolio items

To disable that effect, open the file “mantra/js/portfolio-scripts.js” and remove from line 116 to 121:

7. Stylesheets missing

error message being displayed when trying to upload or activate the theme.

A common issue that can occur with users new to installing WordPress themes is a “Broken theme and/or stylesheets missing” error

This error message does not mean that the theme you have purchased is broken, it simply means it has been uploaded incorrectly.

Find the solution in this article from the Envato Wiki: Solving Broken Theme Issues

Welcome to the Getting Started guide for Black Label Theme, please you can take a look at the information below to start using the theme.

This is the version 4 of Black Label which is a major update to version 3. This means that if you are already using version 3 you will encounter some incompatibilities with version 4.

If you update to version 4 you won't loose any data from your site and you can always go back to use version 3, but since version 4 uses a different system of Portfolio and Slider, your old content will not work and you will have to create that content again with the new version.

If you don't want to update, version 3 will still have support from us.

91. Image Sizing

What are the best dimension for the background fullscreen images?.

There is no default or ideal size for images as fullscreen background, It all depends on what you want.

If you want better quality you have to use bigger images, like 1500x840px or more. But you will get a page to load slower, because the images are heavier in MB.

Also you can use smaller images, like 900x500px and get faster load times in your site.

About proportions, the best thing here is to go for a 16:9 ratio. This is the proportion in Full HD monitors, but the images are going to be cropped anyway because the Theme adjusts them to the size of the window.

But you can choose any proportion and see how it fits your design. It’s a matter of try and see what works best on your site.

You can not avoid the image being cut because the Browser window or the screen can be any size, and some users will see your site in a Desktop computer, other in a laptop, etc.

But with a 16:9 proportion I think you are safe in most cases.

INFO This subject was also discussed in the support forum : image sizing.
